Meet Olivia Agostino, Owner and Designer of Liv Jewelry!

Liv Jewelry was one of my many awesome local discoveries this past year, and not only am I obsessed with her beautiful jewelry, but the face behind this brand is an incredible, bubbly and super dynamic female entrepreneur. Liv does it all! She runs all facets of a small creative business, from sourcing supplies, designing and hand-making jewelry, inventory, photography, branding, social media, wholesale partnerships, networking, web design, shipping, budgets, taxes...and the list goes on and on!

She was kind enough to answer a few of my questions, and shared some awesome insights into the world of being a start-up jewelry brand, what she’s learned as a young female entrepreneur, and some of her go-to local staples. Keep reading to learn more about this boss babe and her awesome local business!

What are 3 things that you love about being a business owner?

1.     I absolutely love the freedom that comes with being a business owner - I get to make my own schedule!

2.      I also love how I am in control of everything I'm executing for my brand. I get to carry out my own visions and be as creative as I want to be. The possibilities are limitless!

3.     Lastly, I really love the social aspect of owning my own business. I've met so many amazing people both online and in-person, including other inspiring women-owned small business owners!

What is your biggest challenge as a business owner?

The biggest challenge would be finding balance. Prior to this I worked in the corporate and non-profit world in offices where there was structure and work hours. Now I find myself working 24/7! I don't mind because I'm totally addicted and love making jewelry, but I do need to remember to take some days off and unplug.

What is something you wish someone had told you about running your own business?

One thing I wish someone had told me, or rather reassured me, is that it's okay if things aren't perfect in the beginning. I'm actually grateful for all the mistakes I've made along the way because I've learned so much as a result! I'm constantly evolving and growing and it's okay if things don't go as planned.

Share something that most people don't know about your business.

I try to be as transparent as possible when it comes to my business, which I think is important, especially on social media. That being said, perhaps one thing not everyone knows is that I'm completely self-taught when it comes to making jewelry!

What are 3 of your most important daily habits as an entrepreneur?

1.     Staying organized. I prefer having an old school agenda and handwriting my tasks and schedule.

2.     I try to remember to spend some time outside and not at my desk all day.

3.     Coffee!

A book recommendation for aspiring entrepreneurs:

I prefer listening to podcasts to gain entrepreneurial motivation. My favorites are Second Life, The Goal Digger, Simply Be, Life with Marianna, and finally my #1 is The Ed Mylett Show...truly life changing!

3 of your favorite local spots:

1.     September Surf Café

2.     Furley

3.     McKiernan
